Licensing & Partnerships

Working With Cannabis Genetics

NorCal Seeds & Genetics maintains a privately held collection of cannabis genetics developed and preserved over decades of breeding and observation. As interest in cannabis genetics continues to grow, opportunities arise for collaboration with cultivators, researchers, and organizations seeking to better understand and preserve cannabis diversity.

NSG approaches partnerships selectively, with an emphasis on stewardship, integrity, and long-term value.

Cultivar Licensing

Select cultivars from the NSG library may be made available through carefully structured licensing agreements. These agreements allow cultivation partners to work with established genetics while ensuring that breeding work, lineage, and historical context are preserved.

Licensing opportunities may include:

• licensed cultivation of select cultivars
• collaborative cultivar development
• preservation of breeding lines
• genetic research initiatives

All licensing arrangements are evaluated individually and structured to support long-term stewardship of the genetics involved.

Breeding & Development Partnerships

NSG occasionally collaborates on breeding and development projects that explore new genetic combinations while building on existing breeding lines within the NSG library.

These partnerships may include:

• collaborative breeding programs
• evaluation of new cultivar expressions
• exploration of specific traits across environments
• long-term breeding and selection projects

Advisory & Expert Services

Drawing on decades of experience in cannabis breeding and genetics, NSG provides selective advisory services to organizations working with cannabis genetics.

Advisory engagements may include:

• breeding program strategy
• genetic evaluation and preservation planning
• cultivar development guidance
• expert insight into cannabis genetics and lineage

Jay Michaels also provides expert testimony and consultation in matters involving cannabis genetics, breeding practices, and historical cultivar development.

Because NSG’s primary focus remains on genetic stewardship and preservation, advisory and consulting engagements are considered selectively and aligned with long-term goals.
